Kids Stuff

Recently I made for my daughter the long awaited princess dress.  It was my first ever piece of sewed clothing I made from scratch and it is far from being prefect, but I am happy with it and so is the little Lady.

I took a well fitting dress and made a pattern.

I used organza and for the lining plain cotton.

For the neck and armholes I used some satin fabric.

The length and width of the skirt I gestimated, sewed the two layers together and gathered it around the waist.

To hide the seam around the waist I made a belt out of a contrast colour, again organza and cotton for the lining.

At the back top I inserted a zipper and one can fasten the belt at the back.  Of course one can leave the ends of the belt much longer....
Hinten im Oberteilnähte ich einen Reissverschluss ein.  Ausserdem kann man den Gürtel hinten zusammenbinden.

Finally I glued some coloured jewellery stones on to the belt.

As I had no idea how to start I found this video a very good help

The last weeks we had soo much rain here and very little change to actually leave the house, apart from taking the kids to school.....  Lots of floading here in the South of France, but hey, we do not dispair!
I used that time to make some prezzies for my family, who we are going to visit during the winter holidays.

the pattern and instructions for those two luvvies I took from here

The boys will get loops and hats with pirate themed fabric, combined with fleece.

and the new baby, who is still in the oven!, will get a little crinkle crackle blanket with matching nappy bag.

Soon we are going to have a new little member in our family and I started to get presents ready.  This is currently my favourite when it comes to little baby girls hats.

Made from soft Merino wool (Lang) it will keep little heads warm and snug.

After seeing my fingerless gloves my little daughter decided she needed a pair too.  Of course in our favourite colour combo red and pink.
The gloves are easily and quickly made and are now her favourites!
